Friday at the Track

Review this page before each registration. The rules and policies will evolve as the program grows.

Vehicle Eligibility

1. Street cars on street tires. Sorry, no SUV's or Truck's.
2. Roll bars are mandatory for all convertibles.
3. Functional factory or "pop-up" roll bars are acceptable such as Porsche Boxter or BMW Z3 with owners manual that confirms that they are "ROLLOVER PROTECTION" not "Style" bars.  Honda S2000 and Dodge Viper convertibles are required to have an aftermarket ROLL Bar.
4. Historic cars must have a minimum of three point belts.  Belts must be safely installed and well anchored.
5. Drivers and passenger's seat must provide IDENTICAL protection, including seat, seat belts and roll bar padding.
6. Some racecars from various sanctioning bodies are FATT eligible, provided they meet all BSR tech requirements.  This includes a passenger seat for all Group 1 and Group 2i participants.
7. The sound decibel limit for vehicles is 98.  Sound levels will be monitored.  Vehicles found to be over the limit will be asked to correct on the first offense, then not permitted to participate on subsequent offenses.

General Rules

1. Cars will be technically inspected for safety.
2. Helmets are required.  Any DOT approved motor-sports helmet is acceptable.  Loaners are available.
3. Participants should keep safety equipment in proportion to performance modifications.
4. Gate opens at 7:45am.
5. Everyone must attend the driver's meetings.  Registration closes at 8:45am for Group 1, and 10:15am for Group 2.  Students should plan to arrive one hour prior to allow enough time for technical inspection.  Students will not be able to participate if they miss the driver's meeting.

Technical Inspection

Before each event, each participant's vehicle will be inspected by BSR mechanics. The purpose of the inspection is to assure that all vehicles permitted on the track are safe to operate at speed. Inspection at the track should be considered cursory in nature. Vehicles will not be jacked up, disassembled, or repaired during inspection. Due to these limitations, it is the responsibility of the participant to assure safe mechanical condition of the vehicle prior to the event. It is strongly recommended that vehicles be thoroughly and routinely inspected by a reputable technician. Participants should keep safety equipment in proportion with performance modifications.

Safety

We take safety very seriously. Driving Under the Influence (drugs/alcohol) is absolutely not allowed. The Pit Marshal has the right to end the FATT for anyone if this safety rule is violated. Paddock speed limit is 5mph and is strictly enforced. No one should walk/cross the track at anytime without the Pit Marshal's appoval. Photographers must first obtain permission from Pit Marshal unless standing in designated spectator areas. Dogs on leash, Kids must be attended.

Before you go onto the track

1. Start your car to warm it up.
2. All safety gear on.
   • Helmet on and strapped.
   • Seat belts on and tightened.
   • Check all your instruments to make sure your car is ready (fuel?).
3. Make sure you understand these safety rules.

Entering the track

1. With all your safety equipment in place, approach the Pit Marshal at Pit Out, slowly!
2. Follow the Pit Marshal's directions.
   • Be ready to stop if he tells you.
   • Be ready to go when he tells you.
3. When you pull onto the track, stay to the extreme right and accelerate.
4. When you have checked your mirrors and are sure you are clear, move onto the race line.

Off-Road Recoveries

1. Admit you've made a mistake.
2. Get off the pedals and try to straighten up.
3. Use all the run-off area you need to maintain control.
4. Aim the car at the track or a shallow angle with all the wheels straight. Coast onto the track.
5. Remember your tires may be contaminated.
6. If a car goes off in front of you, give it space to come back on.

Spins

1. If you get into a spin, lock your brakes, depress the clutch, and stop the car.
2. Avoid a spinning car by not looking at it. (Remember it's okay to go off the track to avoid a car).
3. You should be aware of any traffic to your rear so try to provide a way out for them also.
4. The best way to avoid a spinning car is to see the problem early (for example - pinching off exits or a loose setup) and give them space.

Exiting the track

1. Signal your intent to pit with your left arm out the window above the roof line; hand or fist held straight up.
2. A turn signal will help notify another driver of your intent.

If you have a problem on the track (break down or run out of gas)

1. Pull off to a safe area.
2. Stay in the car belted for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes (unless your car is on fire) to let the other drivers see your location.
3. Dont try to repair it while cars are on the track. Exit the car and move away from it to a safe location (other side of wall) and await guidance from track personnel.
4. Stay in a safe location until the tow truck arrives.
5. If you see someone broke down, don't stop.

Violators

1. If you see anyone conducting himself in an unsafe manner, please try to get the car number or description and report the incident immediately to the Pit Marshal. It's everyone's duty to keep it safe.
2. If you make a safety violation, we will explain the problem and most likely give you another chance. The same violation twice in one day ends your day.

Group 2 Solo Rules

Licensed SOLO drivers will adhere to Friday @ The Track (FATT) rules.
